What's happening at today's CultureHeads extravaganza, taking place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Paladium Event Center, 1320 West 62nd Avenue? A better question might be what isn't happening. Promoter Ryan Vincent says he "wanted to make a spot for everybody to go," and he wasn't kidding.

More About
"The idea is multiple different cultures coming together and sharing pieces of art," he explains. What began as a concept for a car show to end all car shows evolved as Vincent and his cohorts decided they wanted music for the extravaganza and engaged rock, ska, hip-hop, R&B, funk and jazz artists for a total of eighteen different acts. They wanted to watch the Broncos play their first away game of the season, too, so CultureHeads will feature three seventy-inch screens broadcasting the game. "Then we had to figure out a way to feed everybody, so Hooters decided they would be on board and have a wing-eating competition," Vincent continues. Also in the mix: face-painting and giant jumping gyms for kids, a bikini competition, a lowrider hop-off, a B-boy battle, body art, vendors, artists creating work live and more. And get this: It's free. Tonight, the Formula Project the official band of the National Hot Rod Association will play to help offset some of the events costs; tickets to that show are $15, or $10 if you buy them at CultureHeads. "Everything's going back into the community," Vincent vows, so do your part and just show up. Visit www.myspace.com/5150asom or e-mail Vincent at vpreview@comcast.net for information.
