Ooh la la! When I first moved back to Denver from New York, I spent a lot of time at Bistro Adde Brewster's, the Cherry Creek hot spot run by Adde Bjorkland and Duey Kratzer, now the proprietor of Mondo Vino. I had too many exceedingly wild nights there and met a lot of people I'm still friends with. But after Adde's closed, its former home devoured a series of restaurants, including the hopeless El Toro Palomo. Now, though, things are looking up for the basement space, which reopened last month as French 250. The owners have done a lot more than just slap on a Monica Lewinsky beret and French accent. The spot has been transformed into a swank restaurant that might have been plucked right out of downtown Paris, complete with its elegant chandeliered dining room, comfy banquettes and white tablecloth service. While French 250 is too fancy to be considered a true bistro, the bar, with its sexy little double bar stools, has a great neighborhood feel, and I plan to enjoy many more exceedingly wild nights at this address. Particularly if I'm drinking the Savoir-Faire ($10), made with Van Gogh Raspberry vodka, Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur lemonade, fresh lime juice and macerated fresh raspberries and mint. And for the morning after, French 250 offers endless mimosas ($12) during Sunday brunch. C'est si bon!
