Sparkle Plenty

Kevin Larson is having a ball.

After a six-year hiatus, Kevin Larson and a host of hip hosts have come together to throw the 2007 Platinum Ball, the town's only black-tie gala geared toward thirty-somethings. The ball had disappeared along with Colorado's economy, but over the past few years, that desirable demographic "has been hammering me with the fact that they're bored with what's going on, bored of the lounge scene," Larson explains. "They're looking for something a little more sophisticated and elegant, a place where they can blow off steam for a night." And at 9 p.m. tonight, Rotors of the Rockies at the Rocky Mountain Airport will be that place. Tickets (each worth $250, but only available through a host) cover valet parking, entertainment, a top-shelf bar and food, topped off with a helicopter ride over downtown — if the donation's right. This year, Larson's added a charity component, with CASA benefiting from the proceeds. For details, go to http://platinumball.org.
