Yarrr! Colorado's pirate reenactors, as it turns out, don't just put on their eye patches and peg legs for the Renaissance Festival. The Colorado Rogues' 115 members will don their ruffled blouses any chance they get. "You've heard of Civil War reenactors? We're reenacting what it's like to live and be a pirate in the golden age of sails," says Joshua Thomas, the group's "Commodore Amon."

So why not host a benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where they can lay siege to blood disorders? The Rogues have been doing blood drives for a long time, partly because it's "cute" for pirates to give blood instead of take it, Thomas says. This time, they fight for blood!

All plasma puns aside, today's event will include a historically accurate five-course meal from 4 p.m. to midnight at Cafe Netherworld, 1275 Pennsylvania Street, with music from Caustic Soul, Pandora Celtica and Whirly Jig. Tickets are $20 in advance at the restaurant or $25 at the door. There will be door prizes, a silent auction and a cash bar. The Rogues will provide the pirates, but attendees may dress up if they want to. For details, visit www.coloradorogues.com.
