For a real taste of where Denver is today, you can't beat First Friday. To whet your artistic appetite for tonight's festivities, get a taste of Denver's past when Myron Vallier, author of Historic Photos of Denver, leads a photographic journey through the city's history from 12:15 to 1 p.m. today at the Colorado History Museum, 1300 Broadway. "I'll review Denver history through photographs," he explains. "I just sort of follow the book, but I don't go through all 200 photos in it. I'll talk about forty or so." Among the pictures discussed will be photos of buildings that no longer exist, which have proved very popular since the book's publication in February (although the surprise crowd-pleaser was the photo of the velocipede, Vallier says).
Admission is $4 for Colorado Historical Society members, $5 for non-members; bring a lunch or buy one at the museum. For information, call 303-866-4686.
