Forever 21

While Simon Schama geeks his jittery British way through his weekly art-history lessons on Simon Schama's Power of Art (which is surprisingly riveting, in a PBS sort of way), another public-television gem, Art:21 -- Art in the Twenty-First Century, looks to the future. And in honor of the future, and the October 28 opening of the new Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver, the Art Students League of Denver will host a free preview screening of season four of Art:21 tonight. The series, which premieres on PBS the same night the museum opens, profiles seventeen working artists and frames them in this season's themes of Romance, Protest, Ecology and Paradox. Episode one, "Romance" — which features artists Laurie Simmons, Lari Pittman, Judy Pfaff and Pierre Huyghe — will screen at 6 p.m. at the ASLD, 200 Grant Street; a panel discussion with local artists follows the sneak peek. Tickets are free, but please call 303-778-6990 to RSVP.
Thu., Oct. 11, 6 p.m., 2007
