Poe Party

Who doesn't love a scary story this time of year — especially one that was written by the king of creepy, Edgar Allan Poe? That's why the Hunger Artists Ensemble Theatre's presentation of An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe is so brilliant. Director Maggie Stillman moved the Halloween favorite to the hauntingly beautiful Denver Victorian Playhouse, 4201 Hooker Street, this year, with an all-new cast including Dell Domnik, Ben Koucherik, Amy Ratliff, Jeff Simpson, Peter Trinh and Amanda Van Nostrand. The production, which features such Poe classics as "The Raven," "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Masque of the Red Death" and more, runs Thursday to Sunday through November 3, with an industry night on Monday, October 29, and a special performance on Halloween. Get tickets, $18, at www.hungerartists.org or by calling 303-893-5438, and check out the website for Thursday-night web specials.
Sundays, 6 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Mon., Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m.; Wed., Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 15. Continues through Nov. 3, 2006
