Kid Rock

Rock N Roll Jesus
Atlantic/Top Dog Records

It's lucky for Kid Rock that he's an egomaniacal dipshit, because otherwise his music would be about as memorable as a Molly Hatchet eight-track sans "Flirting With Disaster." Still, the former Mr. Pamela Anderson's good-humored salutes to his own cocksmanship, not to mention his skill at Xeroxing classic boogie, can't entirely offset occasional pretensions toward relevance.

The Kid's at his best when he's ripping off the past with aplomb, as on "So Hott," a boneheaded hip-shaker in which he declares, "I wanna fuck you like I'm never gonna see you again," and "Lowlife (Living the Highlife)," an almost-clever dirtbag satire ("The landlord called/The rent is due/I spent it all on a KISS tattoo"). Trouble is, he wastes half the album trying to prove he has a mature side, too. The soporific, string-laden "Blue Jeans and a Rosary" and "When U Love Someone," dominated by timeworn aphorisms like "What you reap is what you sow," represent bogus profundity infinitely more sinful than Jesus's tributes to bad behavior.

That's working at cross purposes.

Hey Micheal I am a huge Kid Rock fan and I absolutely love his music. I think that the only egomoniacle dipshit that exists is you. I think your just jealous and bitter because Kid Rock has a lot more talent in his big toe than you do in your whole body. I mean come on his last album went double platinum in less than a year. How many platinum albums do you have? You need to get a life and stay out of his. P.S. You Suck Loser.

Hello;; You should really put music on your site, then people will want to listen to it and while people are listening to your song, they'll have nothing better to do.. so they will read your page to.. I'm a very famous website critic and your site is very well orginized.. just take my advise and I will come back in a week to view it!

I know why reviewer Michael Roberts didnt like Kid Rocks new CD, Rock N Roll Jesus. Besides the fact that he is probably too old to get it, he uses words like soporific, aphorisms and profundity, yeah just the kind of words one would use when reviewing a Rock and Roll album, especially one by Kid Rock. As usual though, Kid Rock is laughing all the way to the bank while Mr. Roberts is writing for the Westwood. Priceless!
