Sexual Revolution

Victorians were obsessed with sex. Let's review the evidence: clothing styles that covered women from chin to wrist to ankle, lest a glimpse of skin send a male onlooker into a frenzy; the invention of bland foods such as graham crackers to help smother the sex drive; the proliferation of brothels in a time when wives were not expected to enjoy bedroom activities; and the practice of putting skirts on tables and chairs so no one would — gasp! — set eyes upon those lust-inducing legs of wood. You get the point; beneath the façade of propriety were animal instincts waiting to be kindled into a pyre that would utterly destroy society.

Kevin Larson has capitalized on the Victorian sexual dichotomy for the past seven years with his annual Victorian Fetish Ball. For number eight, he's expanding to Minneapolis, as well as Denver’s own Tabú nightclub (1222 Glenarm Place). Tickets are $30 general admission, $75 for VIPs, and costumes are mandatory.
