Tales of Terror

If you love the macabre but crave a more sophisticated scare, then Capitol Hill Horror Stories at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion, 777 Pennsylvania Street, is just the trick for you. Historian Tom Noel, also known as Dr. Colorado, and a cast of famous and infamous characters from Denver's past — including teacher Emily Griffith, Mayor Robert Speer and Colorado's most famous Madame, Mattie Silks — will deliver the salacious and gruesome "best bits" of our fair city's wild history just in time for Halloween. The event costs $35 for Colorado Historical Society members, $45 for the general public and starts at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited and reservations are required; call Bobbe Hultin at 303-866-4641 to save your spot.
Mon., Oct. 29, 5:30-9 p.m., 2007
