Awarding Altruism

I haven't bought anything from Wal-Mart in more than five years. Why? Because I believe in putting my money where my mouth is, and there are many aspects of the retail giant's practices that I don't like. It takes a little more time and research to find the same deals — or better ones — outside Wal-Mart's walls, but in the end, I find the effort is well worth it.

If you're anything like me, and you’re a member or a supporter of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community, then you'd find the $85 price tag for tonight's Gay and Lesbian Business Awards (with the theme "We're Coming Out") is worth every penny, because it recognizes and honors businesses and individuals working toward the advancement of the GLBT business community. The gala benefit and award ceremony includes a disco go-go lounge, dinner (with a vegetarian option) and silent auction, and it's taking place at the Marriott Denver City Center, 1701 California Street.
