Life After Forty

"For me, it's sort of a personal mission to show the North American culture — in a very entertaining way — how sensual and vibrant and beautiful women over forty are," explains Nancy Cranbourne, who choreographed and organized Sweet Release, the first-ever full evening of performances by Cranbourne's 40 Women Over 40 dance company. "These girls can really dance."

Sweet Release features guest choreographers and performers Katie Elliott and Wade Mansen, along with a cast of more than fifty dancers from across the state. "The heart for me is that it's dedicated to my mother," Cranbourne continues. "I don't think I've ever quite felt this way doing a show. It's very special to me. And the women infuse the way they're doing these pieces with the knowledge of how important it is to me. It's fun and rhythmic and jazzy and funky, and then it's deep and poignant and touching."

The program opens tonight at the Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut Street in Boulder, at 8 p.m., and continues on November 10, 15 and 16, with an additional matinee performance on November 11. Tickets are $22, $18 for students and seniors; visit www.thedairy.org or call 303-444-SEAT to purchase yours. For more on the dance company, go to www.40womenover40.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 11, 2 p.m. Starts: Nov. 9. Continues through Nov. 17, 2007
