Hung Up

Diane Keaton, Nora Ephron and Meg Ryan make an appearance at the library.

Forget stamp collecting: Amateur film scholarship is where it's at these days. Get in on the action today with DPL's Fresh City Life Cinema Club screening of Hanging Up, starting at 2 p.m. at the Central Library, 10 West 14th Avenue Parkway. To aid in your studies, the presentation includes a guide with credits, trivia and additional resources.

In the film, three sisters — Diane Keaton, Meg Ryan and Lisa Kudrow — take care of their invalid father as he approaches death. Nora Ephron shows up, too. There are some life lessons and some jokes. Hanging Up was not well-loved by critics, but it did win a Teen Choice Award — Kudrow, for "Choice Hissy Fit" — in 2000. And it's notable for being the last film in which Walter Matthau appeared before his death.

So what can you expect to pay for access to Hollywood's finest? Relax, it's free — courtesy of the Denver Public Library. Visit www.denverlibrary.org for details.
