Stellar Luna
This year, Keystone's snowshoe race is an aloha adventure.
The moon is in its first quarter tonight, which means the stars are aligning and the time is auspicious for Keystone's tenth annual Luna Chase Snowshoe Race. Participants will travel atop the Peak to Peak Trail, at more than two miles above sea level, for this adventure race suitable for both snowshoe masters and those who just want to have fun. And don't forget your beachwear: The best-dressed male and female racers in tropical-island-themed clothing will be awarded prizes, and a Hawaiian luau and awards ceremony will follow the race at Keystone's Summit House.
Participation is $28 in advance at www.active.com, $32 the day of the race. Racers should meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Summit House; foot passenger loading for the gondola begins at 4 p.m. E-mail laharris@vailresorts.com or visit http://keystone.snow.com for details.
