Holiday Hangover

Hang on to the season at a Christmastide art show.

The world is full of holiday-season art shows that fall before Christmas, not on the day after. But at South Broadway Christian Church, 23 Lincoln Street, they decided to do things a little differently. Based on the success of an Easter Stations of the Cross exhibit staged there for Easter 2006, SBCC in-house artist Margaret Baumer put out a call for entries this season for Epiphany: A Feast for the Eyes, which celebrates the traditional Christmastide period leading up to the feast of the Epiphany, otherwise known as the Twelve Days of Christmas.

The resulting display, featuring unique and decidedly non-traditional interpretations by local artists, opens today and continues through January 6, when a "feast day" artists' reception will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. You might see anything from the gift-bearing Magi to a partridge in a pear tree. Admission is free; for exhibit hours, call 303-722-4679 or log on to www.southbroadwaychristianchurch.org.
