Moon Time

Ski and skate by the light of the full moon in Tabernash.

Since the lunar perigree (commonly known as the full moon) doesn't technically come to fruition until tomorrow morning at 3:12, tonight's Full Moon Ski and Skate won't take place beneath a completely, 100 percent, no-holds-barred full moon — but the sky will still be bright enough to light the way for participants enjoying the later hours at Devil's Thumb Ranch, 3530 County Road 83 in Tabernash.

What better way to celebrate the winter solstice with your sweetheart or your family than to glide through the meadow by moonlight, follow your ski adventure up with a hand-in-hand turn or two around the frozen pond, and finally snuggle up together at the bonfire with some toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate to warm your insides? The communion with nature runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and costs $5 for the trail pass and $5 for equipment rental; visit www.devilsthumbranch.com or call 1-800-933-4339.
Sat., Dec. 22, 6:30-9:30 p.m., 2007
