Eat, Sing and Be Jewish

Celebrate culture at Lannie's First Sunday series.

Holidays, shmolidays! They're over, fartik! And what better way might there be to get past them completely than with an event as fresh as the year is new? While our Christian brothers and sisters drag out their half-dead trees and pack up the ornaments for another year, we Jews can turn the page at today's Bagels Brunch & Bluegrass. It's a fully loaded bagel repast with music, taking place this morning at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe Street, as part of both the club's First Sunday With Lannie and Gabby series, featuring Pat Miller, the Gabby Gourmet.

Okay, we're not so exclusive: Drop your dried-up needles and join us. And once we've all loaded up on bagels, cream cheese and scrumptious rugelach supplied by the Supreme Bean Cafe, local musician Saul Rosenthal — aka "Shalom Feivel" — and his quick-pickin' Rocky Mountain Jewgrass band will hit the stage, proffering their signature sound, the "high lonesome kvetch," to the tune of skilled string-band runs, pristine harmonies and a generous side of humor. You don't have to be Jewish to get down with that.

Brunch is served at 11 a.m., followed by music at 11:30; for tickets, $20, visit www.lannies.com or call 303-293-0075.
