Wrong Turn

When my friends from back east talk about Denver, they come up with some pretty diverse images that often include ski vacations, canceled flights, Red Rocks and microbrews. However, never in anyone's buck-wildest imagination would they expect to see thirty Longhorn steer driven down fourteen blocks of 17th Street in the middle of winter. "It's our chance to bring the Stock Show downtown," says Kati Anderson, Stock Show media manager.

Let NYC have the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Boston the St. Patrick's Day Parade, because Denver takes the prize with this cowboy tradition. Starting today at noon at Union Station, 1701 Wynkoop Street, the Stock Show Parade is your chance to see one of Denver's busiest streets overrun with antique and modern tractors, floats, horseback riders, high-school marching bands and a shitload of Texas Longhorn cattle.

The event is free. For more information, go to www.nationalwestern.com or call 303-299-5522.
