Dear Diary

The following is addressed to girls only: Remember your first diary, the one with the key kept stashed in the underwear drawer, where all your tender, pre-pubescent secrets unfolded in private, away from the prying, super-egoist eyes of your mother and that nasty clique of eighth-graders who got to wear eye shadow? Local improv artists Barbara Gehring and Linda Klein of the A.C.E. comedy troupe, who co-wrote and perform in Girls Only, a comic paean to all things "girly," not only remember, but were inspired to write the play after spending an evening together hooting uncontrollably over their own unearthed diaries.

The resulting show travels through the many ages of womanhood, from puberty to menopause, laughing all the way. Featuring such segments as "Up With Puberty," the "Pantyhose Ballet" and the "Kotex Craft Corner," it's so woman-centric that Gehring and Klein decided that during the show's run, which begins tonight at 8 p.m. and continues Thursdays through Sundays until February 24, only women would be allowed to buy tickets, making it the perfect destination for any self-respecting girls-night-out crew. This is one show where nobody calls to make reservations for two!
