Vacation in Hell
It's one of the most dangerous spots in the world — the only place where God gets sauced with the devil, where Indians inhabit Old West towns forgotten by Hollywood and drug routes are passed from father to son. In the Sierra Madre Mountains, just twenty miles south of the Arizona/Mexico border, criminals are folk heroes, and the obvious cure for insomnia and a bad shoulder is rattlesnake pills, Celebrex and steroids.
"It's like a remnant of the Wild West right on America's doorstep," says travel writer Richard Grant, "complete with bandits on horseback, Indians living in caves and an astronomical murder rate."
