In It to Win It

When Denver fashionista Brandi Shigley took over Sputnik's bingo night from Ben Kronberg, she added her own twist to things. "We call it Blingo. Every week, we have a different designer sponsoring the night, so not only do you get to win the money, you also get some cool fashion," she explains. With four to six games a night, including a weekly progressive jackpot game that grows until it's won, there's plenty of opportunity to make out like a bandit at Blingo aka Bingo with Brandi Shigley, which takes place from 9 p.m. until midnight tonight and every Monday night at Sputnik, 3 South Broadway.

Getting into the fun is about as cheap as it comes — the first card of the night is free, additional cards are just a dollar each — and so is the buzz, as long as you're drinking the dollar Miller Lites. You won't even need to feed quarters into the jukebox, as DJ Instamatic will provide a mix of what Shigley calls "electro-indie-pop-rock-ish music" while you vie for fabulous prizes of fashion and cash, or just kick back and watch hipsters act like your grandparents. "The fun thing about it is, you don't have to play," Shigley says. "Sometimes people come in and don't plan on playing, but then they see it's so much fun, and they say, 'I want to play the next round.' It's not just your grandma and grandpa's game. It's a nostalgic, fun game that brings back the warm and fuzzies."
