I'm a country girl at heart. Don't get me wrong: I like the city, and I particularly like all the cultural events and great music you can only experience while living close to a large metropolitan area. But the noise, the pollution, the hipsters I can only take those parts in small doses.
Rebecca Folsom is a lot like me. Born and raised in Boulder, close to both city and mountains, she's developed a fresh and inspiring sound call it cosmopolitan country that you can hear tonight at Wild Women of the West. A CD-release party for the Rebecca Folsom Band's new Water on Stone album, the event will also feature the Liz Barnez Band, Celeste Krenz and the Katie Herzig Trio all women raised in Colorado and now living in Nashville. Tickets are $19; a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Blue Sky Bridge, an advocacy program for abused children. It all goes down tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th Street in Boulder; call 303-786-7030 or visit www.bouldertheater.com.
