Fashion with Passion

The fashion at tonight's Aveda Institute Denver hair and makeup show, "Shampoo, Rinse, Recycle," is going to be as green as it gets. "Our green team is a group of students and staff in charge of making sure that the Institute is as environmentally conscious as possible," explains Aveda's Alicia Parks. To that end, some of the material used to make the clothing and accessories for the show is pre-used, "and some of it is material mostly just coming from our Institute — pulling things out of our recycling and trash bins, cutting up bottles and making items out of that, bringing in compostable materials to make costumes," says Parks.

A silent auction will take place during the fashion show; proceeds benefit Western Resource Advocates. Advance VIP tickets, $25, include front-row seating, a goodie bag and free entry into a raffle for a Toyota Prius; otherwise, pay just $10 at the door. Call 303-567-7500 or visit www.avedadenver.com for information; the Institute is at 700 16th Street, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Green is in!
