Smokin' Hot

Help pick the 2009 Colorado Firefighter Calendar cover boy.

I'll let you in on a little secret: Firefighters are super-hot. Maybe it's the aura of heroism about them in all their pulling-small-children-and-pets-from-burning-buildings glory. Or maybe it's just their rock-hard abs and bulging biceps. Whatever that je ne sais quoi quality, there's no denying that firefighters are sexy, sexy beasts. And they look just as good in person as they do on those calendars; I know, because I was at the 2008 Colorado Firefighter Calendar release party, and most of them signed my calendar for me (swoon!).

Fired Up for Kids -- the non-profit organization that puts together the calendar and supports Colorado firefighters and the Children's Hospital burn center -- is already planning the 2009 version, and you can help by attending the Colorado Firefighter Calendar Celebrity Judging Event tonight at the Hyatt Regency at the Denver Tech Center, 7800 East Tufts Avenue. Media personalities will ask the potential calendar boys (and girls) questions and cast votes to see who's got what it takes to hang on your wall for an entire month; you can support your favorites by cheering madly as they work the runway. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the door. VIP tickets, available for $75 in advance and $85 at the door, include early admission, a private gathering with the firefighters, a copy of the 2008 calendar and exclusive seating. Get yours at King Soopers, www.ticketswest.com or www.firedupforkids.com.
