Space Case

Celebrate Yuri Gagarin's space milestone.

Almost fifty years ago today, humanity took its first tentative steps into the infinite void when Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. To celebrate that milestone, space lovers in forty countries around the world — and the astronauts and cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station — will come together for Yuri's Night.

"We all believe in the same goals for the future," says the University of Colorado's Cassie Kloberdanz. "It's a way to get us together to talk and celebrate space exploration."

Space exhibits, film showings and musical performances fill the day, starting at noon at Fiske Planetarium, 2414 Regent Drive on the CU-Boulder campus. At 9 p.m. the party moves to Trilogy Wine Bar, 2017 13th Street, where you can rub elbows with fellow space enthusiasts and enjoy live music by astronaut-friendly bands. It's all free; only a love of the final frontier is required. Visit www.boulder.yurisnight.net for more info and a full schedule.
