Hello, Dolls

The Mile High Club takes on Duke City.

The Denver Roller Dolls will take a page from the history books tonight when they face off against Albuquerque's Duke City at the Fillmore Auditorium, 1510 Clarkson Street. The building that houses the Fillmore opened in 1907 as the Mammoth Roller Skating Rink. From 1935 to 1962, it became Mammoth Gardens, which was home to Denver's first professional ice-hockey and basketball teams and offered ice skating, ice polo, wrestling and boxing for the masses.

In 1999, Mammoth Gardens became the Fillmore Auditorium, modeled after the infamous Fillmore in San Francisco. But tonight the building returns to its roots, during the Mile High Club vs. Duke City bout. The Roller Dolls' Mile High Club comprises its all-star skaters and is currently ranked 21st in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association standings.

Don't miss this historic match: Tickets are $15 and are available at the Fillmore box office, Twist & Shout, all Ticketmaster outlets, 303-830-TIXS or www.livenation.com. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the bout starts at 7:30. Let's get ready to rrrrumble!
Fri., April 25, 7 p.m., 2008
