Sowing creative seeds at the Botanic Gardens.

When the golden day is done, Through the closing portal, Child and garden, flower and sun, Vanish all things mortal. — From Robert Louis Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses A dozen paintings by street artists have already sprouted as part of the Denver Botanic Gardens' Urban Nature exhibit, and all kinds of things could emerge from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Poetry Slam! and Open Mic Night. "Any exhibit we present is always complemented by a suite of programs," explains Lisa Eldred, director of exhibitions and programs for the DBG. "This exhibit is the first one we've created in-house to speak to our community, to remind them that we're a city garden and a place for them."

And a place for all kinds of creativity. Co-presented with the University of Denver's Writing Program, the event is free with admission to the Gardens, 1005 York Street (that fee is waived for DU students with ID), so come early enough to soak up some inspiration.
