When the Beatles album Abbey Road was released on CD in 1987, it spent 92 weeks on the U.K. Top 75 list. Quite a feat for an album more than sixteen years old at the time; it was also the last album the Beatles recorded together before they disbanded. And tonight, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra takes a walk down that famous thoroughfare for The Music of Abbey Road, part of the CSO Presents HealthONE Pops series.
The orchestra will play Abbey Road in its entirety from "Come Together" to "Something" to "Octopus's Garden," past "Here Comes the Sun" and all the way to "Her Majesty" along with other popular Beatles classics such as "A Day in the Life" and "Penny Lane." No word yet on whether the orchestra will re-create that famous album cover.
Tickets are $15 to $69.50; the orchestra starts playing in Boettcher Concert Hall, Denver Performing Arts Complex, at 7:30 p.m. Call 303-623-7876 or visit www.coloradosymphony.org.
