Witness a surreal, layered landscape and alien hybrid animal forms at Unnatural, an exhibition of the works of Lauri Lynnxe Murphy opening tonight at Plus Gallery, 2350 Lawrence Street. The show marks a return to an emphasis on her own art for Murphy, who’s spent the last several years promoting the work of others, according to gallery owner Ivar Zeile.

“She’s really been making progress in the last couple of years — more toward herself and her stature as one of Colorado’s top contemporary artists,” Zeile says. “That’s what’s going to be really exciting about this exhibition; it’s like her return to where she deserves to be.”

Unnatural opens tonight and runs through July 12, with a free artist’s reception scheduled for Friday, June 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. Works by Kate Petley and Tim Jag will be displayed concurrently at the gallery. For more information, visit www.plusgallery.com or call 303-296-0927.
