Landscapes From the Age of Impressionism decorates the DAM.

There’s this little studio in Pittsburgh called the Mattress Factory. The least complicated but most interesting installation piece there is a black room minus the roof. As you watch the framed sky at dusk, the shifting colors are highlighted in a way most people never notice. An artist friend called this an “impressionist moment.”

Starting today at 10 a.m. at the Denver Art Museum, 100 West 14th Avenue Parkway, Landscapes From the Age of Impressionism gives you a first-hand look at real Impressionist moments from real French and American masters. “The Impressionists continued the tradition of plein air landscape painting, leaving us exquisite impressions of changing skies and vibrant atmospheres,” says Angelica Daneo, local curator of the exhibition. “The rich selection of landscapes brings to life the art of immediacy and movement, and of light and color.”
