Despite its name and status as the unofficial kick-off party for PrideFest, Gay on Santa Fay isn’t really that gay. Rodney Wallace of 4 Art Studios, one of the founders and organizers of the event, says it’s about celebrating diversity and about the arts community giving back to the gay community for its strong support. “We tackled this last year going in: It’s not gay art. It’s art. It’s about celebrating diversity,” Wallace explains.

Visual art, music, performance art and more will all be part of the event, and plenty of art will be for sale, with select artists giving up to 20 percent of the proceeds to one of several gay-friendly charities. Plus, wine and beer tastings will be offered courtesy of some of the sponsors, including Breckenridge Brewery.

Get started at 4 Art Studios, 776 Santa Fe Drive, and migrate along the 700 block of Santa Fe to any of the other six participating galleries. The free party starts tonight at 5 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. or later. Visit www.gayonsantafay.com for more details.
