Sleepercar

Friday, June 20, Larimer Lounge, 303-291-1007.

The origins of Sleepercar's music is said to date back to the last days of At the Drive-In. The former's oldest song is said to have been written during a sound check at one of the latter's final shows. At the Drive-In guitarist Jim Ward had long been interested in alt-country, but he didn't pursue making that kind of music in earnest until his post-ATDI project, Sparta, got off the ground. In the summer of 2005, Ward recorded a demo of songs he'd woodshedded between tours that became West Texas, an album that will appeal to fans of Wilco's more atmospheric moments.
