Fortunately for you, baseball fan, competitive spirits are still high on many levels, and the Junior Baseball World Series is coming to town. Arvada will be the site of one of three championships being put on by the American Amateur Youth Baseball Alliance (AAYBA), and each of the expected 24 to 48 teams from all five age groups (ranging from ten to fourteen) will be entitled to at least seven games. The schedule of match-ups will be available once all entries are processed, at which point you can select which games to attend: the twelve- and thirteen-year-old age groups will play today through July 12, while the ten-, eleven-, and fourteen-year-olds will compete from July 13 to 19. Most of the action will take place at the Lutz/Stenger Sports Complex, 10664 West 58th Avenue, with games at a few other locations as well. Week-long access is $40 at the gate, or you can opt to watch the refreshingly youthful players -- (hopefully) untainted by performance-enhancing substances -- for $10 a day. Bleacher-seat hopefuls fifteen and under or 62 and over will be admitted free of charge. With plenty of games going on every day, we’d say that’s a better value than Rockpile tickets -- and you don’t have to climb four flights of stairs!
