Good for Denver

Phil Goodstein releases his latest local work.

Local historian Phil Goodstein has been making history in Denver since 1986 with his walking tours, but he was teaching and writing about the city he loves long before then. The prolific author and orator will sign his new book, The Spirits of South Broadway (the first in a three-part trilogy on Denver history), today at A Bargain in Books, 35 West Floyd Avenue, but he promises to give those who attend more than just his signature.

“All sorts of good stories will be talked about,” says Goodstein, including tales about glowing swastikas, the history of radiation in the area and a mysterious church tower.

Goodstein always entertains with his exhaustive knowledge of Denver trivia, and this afternoon should be no exception. The signing starts at 1 p.m.; for more information, call 303-333-1095 or e-mail philgoodstein@gmail.com. A second signing will take place at the Denver Book Mall, 32 Broadway, on July 20.
Sat., July 12, 1-3 p.m., 2008
