TACtile Textile Arts Center celebrates with an open house.

By Susan Froyd

Published on July 17, 2008

Although textile maven Dianne Denholm’s TACtile Textile Arts Center has been developing for several months, she’s just now beginning to truly flesh out the center as both a meeting place and classroom for fiber artists and their guilds, and a public showcase for their wares. So tonight’s open house will be special in all respects: Guests will not only get to peruse a spectacular Member Showcase exhibit, but they’ll also see the touring exhibit, Give Us a Hand, from the Show of Hands Gallery in Cherry Creek North. The latter, which consists of wooden hand plaques decorated by sixty artists for auction, will benefit the Helen B. Davis Endowed Scholarship for the Women’s College of the University of Denver. And the fine silk lining of the whole affair? Davis, an 85-year-old icon of the local fiber-art world, will speak on “Inspirations From the Head, Heart and Hand” during the event.

Attend the free open house from 5 to 8 p.m.; find TACtile on the first floor of Tamarac Square, 7777 East Hampden Avenue. Visit www.tactilearts.org or call 720-524-8886.
