Newton's Numbers

Eleven short plays about Wayne Newton make up 10,000 Wayniacs.

No one embodies the glitz, the glamour or the glib insanity of Las Vegas like Wayne Newton. “I just think, whether you like him or not, he’s a cultural icon,” says Vonalda Utterback of the Theater Company of Lafayette. “He’s Mr. Las Vegas, by his own admission.” Now Mr. Las Vegas is being celebrated in 10,000 Wayniacs, a collection of eleven brand-new short comedic plays about Sin City and the man himself.

Catch the show at 7:30 p.m. tonight or tomorrow, or at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Mary Miller Theater, 300 East Simpson Street in Lafayette. You can purchase tickets for $10 online, or take a chance in true Vegas style and roll the dice at the box office to determine your price; however they come up, it’ll be cheaper than a trip to Vegas. For details, call 720-209-2154 or visit www.tclstage.org.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Aug. 24, 2:30 p.m. Starts: Aug. 14. Continues through Aug. 30, 2008
