Hike and LearnRoxborough State Park becomes a classroom.By Maddie WolbergPublished on August 06, 2008 at 1:00amHey, kids, its time to relive your favorite part of college! No, not the parties, girls, or the booze the lectures. Roxborough State Park is hosting its own version of a lecture seminar today in Fountain Valley. The Fountain Valley OLOGY Hike, which is described as a walking presentation, features naturalists Lisa and Peter Laux leading a discussion about the various ologies in the Fountain Valley region, including geology, biology and ecosystems ology. The hike is going to show off cool things in the park. Its an easy hike your family can come along, says Roxboroughs Angel Tobin, but the talk will be mostly geared toward adults those adults who didnt sleep through Earth Sciences, anyway. The hike starts from the patio of the Roxborough Visitors Center at 9 a.m. The park is at 4751 North Roxborough Drive in Littleton, and the hike is free, but attendees must pay a $6 entrance fee for the park or have a Colorado State Parks Pass. Children are welcome, but no pets or bikes. Hikers should bring water and dress for the weather. There is no picnic area along the route, but food is allowed in the park. Registration is required; contact Angel Tobin by calling 303-973-3959 or e-mailing roxborough.park@state.co.us.
