Where can you find a mountain festival that contains music by Jazz Whistler Francesco Bonifazi, Big Daddy Lee and the Kingbees, the Earthbeat Choir, Frogs Gone Fishin’, Lucas Pulver & Friends, the Last Minute String Band, Wendy Woo & the Woo Band, and a drumming circle led by Laurie Loeb — plus a half-marathon, pancake breakfast, yoga stretching class, parade, street fair, car show, book sale, pie contest and family gazebo (complete with Ferris wheel, stream trailer, water geyser and Euro bungee, also known as trampoline bungee)?

Basalt River Days, that’s where.

The beer garden opens today at 4 p.m. in Lions Park in Basalt; get some social lubrication going before indulging in homemade chicken dinners by the Basalt Regional Heritage Society and tuning into the sounds of Brazilian band Caji & Salome. Registration for the half-marathon takes place tomorrow at 6:15 a.m. at Basalt Middle School; the pancake breakfast follows at 7:30 a.m. in Lions Park, and the family gazebo opens at 9. Yoga College of India leads the Yoga Stretching Class at 9:30 a.m., so you can get nice and limber before the beer tent opens at noon.

Basalt is a three-hour drive from Denver; take I-70 to Glenwood Springs and exit on Highway 82. For a full schedule and more information, visit www.basaltriverdays.com or call 1-970-927-4031.
