Moment of Crisis

A very funny musical returns to Boulder's Dinner Theatre.

Receding hairlines, kids that won’t leave home, trophy wives and other expensive indulgences to recapture youth are just a few of the foibles of mid-life crises examined in Mid-Life! The Crisis Musical, opening tonight at Boulder’s Dinner Theatre. Artistic director and producer Michael J. Duran says Mid-Life is returning for a second run after its previous well-received run. “It was so funny. It just talks about basically the foibles and the pitfalls and the pains and the aches of getting old, or reaching mid-life,” he explains. “They look at it through very warped eyes.”

You don’t have to be in the throes of your own crisis to appreciate it, either. After all, Duran points out, the issues raised — and derided — are universal. “It’s funny no matter what age you are,” he says. “Everybody has either gone through mid-life, or is going through mid-life, or will go through mid-life.”

Experience the joy, sorrow and inherent humor of growing older tonight at 6:15 p.m. at BDT, 5501 Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder. The play continues through November 8; tickets, $35 to $55, are available at www.bouldersdinnertheatre.com. Call 303-449-6000 or visit the website for more information.
Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 6:15 p.m.; Sundays, 12:15 & 6:15 p.m. Starts: Sept. 3. Continues through Nov. 8, 2008
