Martin Landsky at Abode

Martin Landsky started deejaying at just fourteen years old, mixing for friends and family at private functions, but his musical direction was set a short time later when he visited Kultklub Front in Hamburg, circa 1988. The blend of acid, house and techno he heard there still shapes his sound to the present day. He's remixed Booka Shade, Detroit Grand Pubahs and Steve Bug, among others. He's also put out nearly two dozen records, mostly on Poker Flat, including "1,000 Miles" and "Fm Safari," and put together mix albums for Poker Flat, Systematic and Partysan. Landsky's work references the bright, spiky chaos of acid, the subtle, sexy swing of house and the spare, economical efficiency of techno. He mashes the resulting hybrid in with dub and minimal influences, then spins everything into charming, unpredictable sets. Catch him Saturday, September 6, at Abode, 1422 Larimer Street.
