Frantix at Wax Trax

Punk rock hit the musical world like a bomb in the mid-'70s, and the reverberations of that artistic eruption were felt even in places like Aurora, Colorado. In 1978, Aurora was an incredibly boring town, so it comes as no surprise that a few pioneering young men put together a band that embodied the sound and the attitude of punk. Until their dissolution in 1983, the Frantix released only a handful of records and a cassette, but that output, as well as live shows that lived up to the act's name, proved incredibly influential. Matt Bischoff and Rick Kulwicki went on to greater notoriety as members of the Fluid, but everyone who hears "My Dad's a Fuckin' Alcoholic" is struck by its wild energy and profane wit. The reunion show this Saturday, September 20, at Wax Trax is one you shouldn't miss.
