Barry Funny

We are not making this up: Dave Barry speaks out in Parker.

The first humor book I ever read was called Dave Barry Is NOT Making This Up. It was a collection of columns by funnyman Dave Barry (who else?), and I laughed until I cried reading about exploding cows, snakes in toilets and Barry’s long-suffering teenage son, Robert. Or maybe it was Barry himself who was long-suffering. Point being: Dave Barry is a funny, funny guy. What else would you expect from the Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist who penned Big Trouble? And today, you could be lucky enough to actually meet the guy at the Wildlife Experience, 10035 South Peoria Street in Parker. He’s there as part of the Douglas County Libraries Author Extravaganza, a series of events highlighting writers and writing.

A special VIP reception (including hors d’oeuvre and drinks) starts things off at 5:30 p.m.; the regular program then begins at 7 p.m. with a Barry interview by comedian Jamie Brickhouse, followed by a Q&A session and book signing with the audience. Tickets are $20, or $50 for VIP, which includes the reception and preferred seating for the event. Visit www.douglascountylibraries.org or call 303-791-READ.
