You'd be justified in being hostile toward all releases bearing the words "electro-pop" in their description, just for the sheer enormity of hacks working under a genre title that means basically "got ripped in my bedroom and decided I could be an Internet sensation." But Larytta works the same musical vein as Metronomy, trying to remake Justin Timberlake by fucking up his formulaic features. Every song like "Love Love Odyssey" that begins in dance drag ends up sounding more like a lost Elton John track covered by Love. The promiscuity of source material serves Larytta well, making the execrable "electro" moniker sink into the backdrop of Difficult Fun, where rocking-chair noises and early Human League minimalism retool and reinvigorate a tired trend.
