Equulei at Herb'sBy Cory CasciatoPublished on October 29, 2008 at 10:48amOver the past ten years, Equulei has quietly produced some of the most consistently challenging and innovative electronic music to ever come out of Denver. Through its Nobot label, Equulei (due at Herb's with Les Freres Courvoisier and Mike Robot on Sunday, November 2) has issued records of its own, including 2001's Artificial Dissemination, worked on remixes by acts like George & Caplin and helped promote other innovative acts such as Cacheflowe and Scaffolding. Equulei's work blurs genre lines until they become just so many meaningless words, integrating breakbeats, glitch, dubstep, ambient, down-tempo and more into a dark, deep and distinctive take on dance music. The band's motto is "all audio anomalies are intentional," and the music has enough weird tics, surprising turns and unreal juxtapositions to require the disclaimer.
