Blind Courage

The Miracle Worker is the familiar story of Annie Sullivan’s attempt to teach Helen Keller how to communicate in her silent, dark world. However, a particularly interesting aspect of the Denver Center Theatre Company’s production is the set design. “The set design is very symbolic,” says media contact Chris Wiger. “It’s all done in shades of blue, black and gray, so you kind of feel like you’re at the same disadvantage as Helen. Because language is so important in the play, there are words and phrases written in script all over the furniture and platforms.”

Opening tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Space Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, The Miracle Worker follows Annie through that breakthrough summer as she gains Helen’s trust and brings companionship into an otherwise lonely existence. Early shows to accommodate younger audience members start at 6:30 p.m. on weekdays; The Miracle Worker runs through December 20.
