Fine Ar(t)vada

The annual Fine Art Market opens tonight at the Arvada Center.

Although Denver was just a short drive from my childhood home in Arvada, my regular cultural exposure came from the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, which grew as I grew from a simple suburban theater to an all-purpose facility complete with studio space and an outdoor amphitheater. My family went from watching decent theatrical productions and the local youth ballet to attending regional stage premieres and open-air concerts by world-renowned musicians.

Now in its 22nd year, the center’s five-day Fine Art Market opens tonight from 7 to 9 p.m., with a members’ preview at 5. “There are many craft and art fairs throughout the metro area, particularly during this time of year,” notes media contact Jerry Cunningham. “The Arvada Center prides itself on the fact that our art market is made up of well-known artists who produce high-end, top-quality art, which allows us to truly call our market one of fine art.”

The Fine Art Market will stay open through Sunday, December 14. Daily hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., except for Sunday, when it closes at 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.arvadacenter.org.
Tue., Dec. 9, 7-9 p.m.; Dec. 10-14, 2008
