The cover of this album, which depicts a group of Aborigines chained together by some corny colonial type, sitting in a sunset-colored sky over a caricature of the Denver skyline, suggests the arch and subversive music within. Rapper Ancient Mith's level of sonic appropriation is truly impressive on this release. While it's a hip-hop record, elements of jazz, R&B and indie rock are used as much as any sample would be. "Amused" is a detailed and articulate middle finger to the demands placed on each of us by a corrosive socioeconomic system set to edgy ambient music, while "Nature's Known" is an exploration of holding on to your core self and values. This is truly a vital, invigorating and vitriolic collection of songs that transcends any specific genre.
