The latest offering, Homage...to Judith Jamison and the Earth, pairs young people from the Colfax Community Network and ArtLab Jr. with Harlem-born sculptor Li Hardison, who introduced the processes of relief sculpture to her students while creating what she hopes is the first step in a series of bronze sculptures honoring strong African-American women. Hardison’s stunning clay likeness of Alvin Ailey dancer/director Judith Jamison inspired the kids in their own tributes to nature and the earth. All of the works go on display at a reception tonight from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at PlatteForum, 1610 Little Raven Street, where Homage continues through January 9.
