Handmade With Pride

"This year, especially, I think people are looking for ways to cut back but also make meaningful gifts,” says Moondance Botanicals’ Tonja Reichley. And what better way to reach that goal than Moondance’s DIY: Handmade Is Best workshop, taking place today from 1 to 5 p.m. at Moondance Botanicals, 601 Corona Street?

“I think a lot of the time, people don’t want to make gifts because they don’t look as nice as the store-bought stuff,” Reichley notes, “but we have stamping for the labels, ribbons, different ways to wrap things up, bags and packaging.” The result is a professional finish for such personalized gifts as gourmet bath salts, body scrubs, spritzers, aromatherapy candles, cologne blends and more.

“It’s fun, because people make lists and think about scents and particular products that people would like, so they’re really intentional gifts,” she adds. While you work, mulled wine and Italian soda will be available, and Reichley is including herbal truffles on her gift menu.
