Light Bright

If you’ve ever been to Santa Fe, New Mexico, this time of year, you already know how beautiful thousands of flickering luminarias — candles in paper bags placed throughout the city — can be. And we have a little taste of the experience right here in Denver: For one night only, the ArtDistrict on Santa Fe will be lit up for Luminarias de Santa Fe.

More About

When we asked the ArtDistrict’s Andrea Barela what’s so appealing about the event, she had this to say: “You know, it has to be the luminarias themselves. They’re beautiful. We put thousands of them out.”

Apart from the light show, the galleries will be open for touring, and holiday carolers, mariachi groups, Aztec dancers and Santa Claus will provide background entertainment for revelers.

Luminarias de Santa Fe takes place tonight from 5 to 10 p.m.; it’s a free, all-ages holiday event that the whole family can enjoy. For information, visit www.artdistrictonsantafe.com.
Fri., Dec. 19, 5-10 p.m., 2008
